The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden is a family home on a backland site tucked away behind the surrounding rear gardens in an established leafy residential suburb.
The house is conceived as a series of walled gardens connecting the ground floor living spaces. The living areas are organised to flow laterally off a central kitchen and are carefully orientated around the sunlight.
At first floor level, the bedrooms look back out towards a rear private garden. Due to the Planning constraints of the site, the building lines are optimised to fully utilise the available development space while avoiding over-looking of the neighbours. The walled gardens seek to enhance the sense of privacy and seclusion that the site offers.
